“Finding the Light – Truth and Reconciliation the Natural Way”

On behalf of the Arizona State Office of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Arizona) Board of Directors, with special thanks for the foundational support of our generous longtime sponsors, it is my great privilege to extend you this admittedly compelling personal invitation praying that you’ll join us, both in-person and virtually, for our 2022 BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona/NAMI Arizona/Tribal Nations’ Annual Meeting, Partnering, and Sustainability Summit: “Finding the Light – Truth and Reconciliation the Natural Way” May 7, 2022.

Having just completed ten years of intentional partnering and collaborative community relationship building, there is no time like the present to revel in the powerful work we’ve accomplished together, highlighting how conveniently fortuitous each year’s annual meeting theme has built upon the one before, only to now arrive at this penultimate opportunity to ensure every Arizona community has The Right Voices at the Right Tables and includes all who invest in working together (Praise in public/Criticize in private). Reflecting on the many multi-varied Annual Meeting themes you’ve participated in over the years, we hope you find at least a small sense of satisfaction remembering that while relationships can be difficult, we not only overcame a great deal of financial, relational, and environmental challenges; but have established our NAMI Arizona Affiliates, and Affiliate Partner Platforms as “those powerfully prepared community leaders who Just Don’t Quit.”

We are striving to build on the long established statewide intertribal collaboration most recently witnessed at the 8th Annual Health Choice Arizona Tribal Summit and 3rd Annual Statewide Tribal Veterans Symposium; and we ask that you please Stay Tuned for the upcoming announcement of which central Arizona tribal venue will be chosen to host leadership from all 22 Arizona First Nations, nine active NAMI Arizona Affiliates, three Affiliate Partner Platforms, and hundreds of individual, family and community leaders from practically every corner of our great state determined to ensure every Arizona community is heard, validated, and included.

Agenda-wise, so far, First Nation presentations/panel/introductions in the morning, lunch included, then NAMI Arizona/Affiliate sharing concluding with a strong recurring commitment to see each other again at least annually.

Ever since our January 2019 NAMI Arizona Annual Meeting – “Caring Means Sharing”, our State Board of Directors has committed to and been sharing a portion of our annual meeting sponsorship revenues ($120,500 total over the past six years) with our officially recognized NAMI Arizona Affiliates. This year they’ve decided to step it up a notch and have chosen to include our three “Affiliate Partner Platforms” (David’s Hope-Arizona Mental Health and Criminal Justice Coalition, Arizona Peer and Family Coalition, Arizona Crisis Intervention Team/CIT Association); along with hopefully all 22 Arizona Tribal Nations who chose to partner with us this year to ensure every Arizona community has equitable access to basic common infrastructure with the ability to connect and engage with whoever they want whenever they want just like the rest of us.

It is with extremely Special Thanks for the exemplary leadership of our 2022 NAMI Arizona Board of Directors that we look forward to sharing up to 50% after expenses of this year’s 2022 annual meeting sponsorship revenue fourteen ways: 1-NAMI Southern Arizona, 2-NAMI Pinal Central, 3-NAMI Yuma, 4-NAMI Southeastern Arizona, 5-NAMI Valley of the Sun, 6-NAMI Payson, 7-NAMI Yavapai County, 8-NAMI White Mountains, 9- NAMI Flagstaff, 10-David’s Hope/Arizona Mental Health and Criminal Justice Coalition, 11-Arizona Peer and Family Coalition, 12-Arizona CIT Association, 13-NAMI Arizona/Affiliate/Tribal & Veterans Sustainability Initiative, 14-Arizona Tribal Nations’ Intentional Partnering Activity Fund.

Can’t think of an easier way to raise money to strengthen and grow the reach of the communities you love than by encouraging everyone you know to join in, Sponsor, and participate in this year’s annual meeting to ensure we’re all connected, engaged, included, validated, growing, healing, and transcending together.

Thank you for all you do in support of NAMI in Arizona and worldwide. See you May 7th!
Thanks, Jim

NAMI Arizona is a state-wide grassroots organization dedicated to serving individuals and families affected by mental illness to improve their quality of life and achieve recovery. NAMI Arizona promotes activities, in partnership with local NAMI affiliates, through education, advocacy, research, and support.

NAMI ARIZONA PUBLIC POLICY POSITION:

1. We are proud of our State and love that we lead the Nation in several nonpartisan criminal justice, behavioral health, and veterans’ initiatives.
2. We know all three branches of Arizona State Government seek effective system oversight and service delivery; and wish to do our part to ensure they’re successful.
3. We realize that truly independent oversight is no different than good leadership and supervision, and choose to be proactive instead of reactive, inspirational instead of punitive, and to partner on the front end to achieve our targeted outcomes instead of admonishing on the backend.
4. We love and respect that our 11 Affiliates blanketing Arizona, reflect diverse sometimes even opposing perspectives on numerous issues, yet unite where we share common cause determined to deliver their powerful product. We vow to help strengthen their independent ability to ensure they can effectively unite and reflect the communities they serve.
5. We refuse to jump on anyone’s bandwagon without knowing all sides of the issue, who’s behind it and why. Even still, we will be extremely cautious not to dilute our brand or message.
6. We also refuse to shame, blame, or ridicule when we don’t find common ground.
7. We value collaboration and intentional partnering in all that we do and strive to ensure the Right Voices are at the Right Tables, and those who share our cause feel heard, validated, and attended to.
